Hanoi Train Street is a narrow residential alley in Vietnam’s capital where active trains pass within centimeters of houses and street-side cafes.
Train St is located in Hanoi’s Old Quarter and is a fun and exciting experience, there plenty of Cafe’s to perch alongside and have a meal or a beverage. We took an evening walk from our hotel following google maps and arrived in time to see two trains pass, I must say the feeling of that massive train passing with centimeters of you gets the adrenalin flowing. It seems traditional to put bottle caps on the tracks and let the train flatten them for a memento of your visit. Whilst it’s free to visit it felt only right to sit and enjoy a cold beer (Hanoi) while we waited for the train to pass.
When in Hanoi definitely check out Train Street.
TIP: Walk along the track to find a good spot (there is plenty of room), grab a beer and when the signal goes out the train is coming pop the bottle top on to the track
