When Travelling it’s typical for tourists to flock to Museum’s and in Ho Chi Min City the War Remnants Museum is no exception. The museum contains exhibits relating to the first Indo China war and the Vietnam War.
Personally this was an eye opening experience and I learned a lot about Vietnam and it’s history. I found the Museum to be very confronting and I struggled emotionally the deeper I progressed through the exhibition halls. The cruelty of mankind is definitely evident in this museum. I came to a point where I had to leave the museum as I was feeling sick to my stomach and searched for a cafe to sit and have a cold beer, while I processed what I had seen. Luckily there is a Cafe back on the ground floor near the exit.
Now my personal disposition is not a slight on the Museum, it had everything you would expect from a museum and it is well run. There are plenty of toilets, lifts, Cafe, guides and a souvenir store.
The museum seems to have a steady stream of visitors and was very busy the day we went.
We purchased tickets at the gate for 60,000 VND ($3.31AUD)
TIP: Tissues, Cash
