The Nike Melbourne Marathon is one of those bucket list events due to the iconic finishing location, the Mighty MCG. The home of Australian Cricket and AFL, this legendary stadium has seen many historic Australian cricket victories and hosted the best cricket players in the world. The stadium was built in 1853 and can now has a capacity for over 100,000 spectators.Â
The Marathon is a world athletics certified measured course, the course is a fast and mostly flat. The course winds from adjacent the MCG out to the Bay and returns to finish at the MCG or the G as Aussies like to call it.Â
Definitely a bucket list Marathon tick from me, I didn’t have the best run despite a great prep but finishing was the goal and I got there despite the pain, then we celebrated in style in the Melbourne CBD.Â
