Fushimi Inari Shrine - Tori Gates
We took the train to Kyoto and hiked the 233 metres up to the top, thats 10,000 Tori Gates, 12,000 steps, it took about 2 hours to do the full 4km loop. Now let me tell you it was HOT and it was a sweat fest, we were drenched but we did it, we didn't give up. Fushimi Inari shrine is FREE to enter and definitely worth the hike to the summit. It will test your fitness going to the top but TBH you don't really need to as there are so many gates and photo opportunities nothing more at the top to really see, it's only for the adventurous going the whole loop. There are vending machines all round the loop so you can stay hydrated, we noted the further we went the more expensive the drinks became. there are also kiosks along the way selling souvenirs and snacks.
TIP: Go either early or later in the day especially in summer, Sunscreen, Hat, and plenty of water. Take the train and google maps is your friend.
