Mandala Suci Wenara Wana, also known as Ubud Monkey Forest
A trip to the Monkey Forest in UBUD was an attraction I had always wanted to visit, over 1200 Balinese long-tailed macaque monkeys live in the Ubud Monkey Forest. NOW we had heard the stories on monkeys stealing stuff from tourists and we were going to go in light but after our driver (Rocky) assured us this forest was pretty safe if you follow the rules we took our hats and wallets. (We did see a monkey jump onto a girls backpack and when she tried to remove it in fright it grabbed onto her long hair and that scared her even more). I would be wary taking a backpack. The forest is beautiful and its a leisurely walk around the sanctuary for a couple of hours. Costs 130,000IDR (around $10 AUD for adult entry).
TIP: Mosquito repellant, hat, sunscreen, water, get there early to avoid crowds and the heat, it opens at 9am.
